Professor

Professor Sumeer Gul is a Professor & Head in the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Kashmir. He was also In Charge Librarian, Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir from 2023 to 2024. Hdid his Bachelors and Masters in Library and Information Science from University of Kashmir and has qualified U.G.C National Eligibility Test (NET) in 2005. He also holds a Doctorate in Library and Information Science. He has a teaching experience of more than 17 years and is associated with many professional bodies of international and national repute. 

In the corporate life of the University, he served as a Coordinator, UGC Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) from 2021 to 2023. He is also Coordinator, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), University of Kashmir. 

He has successfully completed a Major Research project, Impact of Migration on Psycho-Social and Economic well- being of Elderly Pandit Migrants sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). 

He is associated as an author with reputed publishing houses like Springer Nature, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, Emerald, Sage, IGI, UNESCO etc. With an h-Index of 10 through Web of Science; 14 through Scopus and 19 through Google Scholar, he has a passion for scholarly writing. He is associated as an author with reputed journals like Scientometrics, Library Hi Tech, The Journal of Academic Librarianship, Journal of Information Science, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Online Information Review, Aslib Journal of Information Management (earlier Aslib Proceedings), Journal of Librarianship and Information Science, The Electronic Library, Data Technologies and Applications (earlier Program), European Journal of Integrative Medicine, VINE, Global Knowledge, Memory and Communication (earlier Library Review), Serials Librarian, etc. 

He serves the Departmental Journal, "Trends in Information Management (TRIM)" as an Associate Editor since 2011 besides serving as Coordinator, Departmental Seminars and Academic Events; Member DRC and Coordinator Departmental Examinations (Since 2017).

He was also Associate Editor, Kashmir Journal of Social Sciences published by School of Social Sciences, University of Kashmir for the year 2017 and 2018 and currently he is again serving as an Associate Editor of the same since 2024.
