Professor Sumeer Gul is a distinguished academician, researcher, and administrator in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS), currently serving as the Head of the Department of Library and Information Science & Deputy Director, Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), at the University of Kashmir, Srinagar. Since joining the permanent faculty in 2006, his career has transitioned through multiple academic grades to his appointment as Professor in 2021. He also previously extended his administrative expertise to the university's central library infrastructure, serving as the Librarian of the prestigious Allama Iqbal Library and Coordinator, Human Resource Development Centre, University of Kashmir. Alongside his teaching and departmental leadership, Professor Gul plays an active role in institutional quality assurance and academic governance at the University of Kashmir. He serves as a Coordinator for the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA). He is a prominent scholar in information processing & retrieval, bibliometrics, open-access ecosystems, and scholarly publishing & communication. Professor Gul has published extensively in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals published by reputed publishing houses like Elsevier, Springer Nature, Emerald, Sage, Routledge etc.
